Mazafati dates are among the oldest and typical type of Iranian fresh dates. They are mostly grown in Bam area in Kerman province. The harvest time is usually September-October. Mazafati dates are packed under tree while picking them and the grades defined by the weight of each pack.
Iranian Mazafati Dates might be characterized as one of the world’s most palatable and tasty variety of dates. They have a delightful dark brown to black color with a fine texture and depending on the time it is harvested and the place it is grown, its moisture content varies from 15% to 35% and are almost 99% fat free. The size is usually 2.5 to 4.5 cm. Mazafati Dates must be kept refrigerated and transferred in a refrigerated container.
The annual production of Mazafati Dates in Iran is more than 100,000 tons.
